Das Warten hat sich gelohnt: Jamala veröffentlichte am 22. September 2016 den offiziellen Videoclip zum Eurovision-Gewinnerlied 1944.

Das Video wurde innerhalb von 3 Tagen auf der Militärbasis Pamir in Czernowitz gedreht. Für die Regie und die Choreographie verantwortlich ist Anatloy Sachivko. Der Song 1944 ist von Jamala selbst komponiert. Er ist auf Englisch und Tatarisch und besingt die Deportation der Krimtataren aus ihrer Heimat durch die russische Armee. Jamala hat das Lied ihrer Familie gewidmet und insbesondere ihrer Grossmutter, die deportiert wurde.

This video was the hardest to shoot to date! It was showering all the time and there was a fog so thick, that even a strong wind could not dispel it… It was also FREEZING! The day before we started shooting the sun was shining bright. Nature gave us big challenges but once we saw the finished piece it was so worth it and actually aided with the feel and atmosphere!
